We had Fantastic Fourth of July Family Fun at the Cincinnati
Bucki’s! This was the first time I had seen their new home since the recent
purchase in April and I was impressed! The neighborhood they live in is perfect
with older Tudor style homes on a hilly, shady, terrain but the best part is the
neighbors! Friendly families just like them with children for Hudson to play
with and couples for Katie and Frank to share a few adult beverages with. Their
home is beautiful and the Bucki’s are doing a wonderful job of decorating and
making it ‘their’ own and it comes with a bonus front porch swing! Our bonus
was having Tim’s son Andy visiting for the 4th of July weekend. He
lives in Baltimore and brought his “old man” pet friend Columbo to visit while his
wife Yoko and the kids where visiting Japan.
We parked our home on wheels in the backyard off the narrow
alley, mirrors pulled in, and Tim did a great job navigating. Everyone praised
our purchase and seemed honestly impressed. We parked on a new concrete pad
that was just slightly uneven so the three men leveled our home for the first
time. Our 3-year-old grandson, Hudson, said “It was the biggest truck he had
ever seen” and we decided that could be the our new front license plate name if
we can find it. I had to show him how to knock on our door because the first
time he did Katie watched him fall back off the steps when I opened the door.
He dusted himself off and waited for the door to open to see Grandma and
Granddad in the big truck…lol Sunshine and heat overcame us on Sunday afternoon
on the back deck so Andy looked at his Dad and asked “why don’t we move over to
“your house”? And we moved the party under the awning of the big truck in the
backyard!
At noon on the fourth of July we walked down the street to a
neighborhood parade and celebration including patriotic songs, water balloon
fights, (adult and children) and the cutest kid parade where neighborhood
children had decorated bikes and wagons. The parade moved around a cul-de-sac
circle and in the middle of the circle were burgers, hot dogs, and delicious
potluck selections. There was an additional game where the small children
carried balloons and sat on small chairs until the balloons burst, except for
Hudson, he sat on the ground to accomplish his goal! It was a perfect 4th of July.
Hudson fell asleep early but Katie and Frank woke him up to watch the fireworks
that you could see from their street.
We are parked here for the next week
because in case I forgot, Katie and Frank’s 4th anniversary was on
the 4th of July and they are attending a Jimmy Buffet concert on
Saturday with some neighborhood friends while Grandma and Granddad can have
some one on one with Hudson. It will be a joyful day with “kid” movies and
popcorn and we are looking forward to it. Pictures to follow!
Then we are off to Illinois to see my Mom. I’m sure there will
be more stories to tell!
Signing off for now,
